Our Services
Communication is key to children’s development - so that they can access what they want, exert control over their environment and achieve independence.

Gemma has obtained certification from a variety of ASD focused approaches to assessment and therapy.
Challenging Behaviour
Behaviour is a form of communication. For some children and young people, particularly those with limited language and or social communication difficulties, it is their most significant form of communication.
I believe it is an essential part of my job to understand the functions a given behaviour has for a child - what does the behaviour ‘get’ them? What are they trying to discover or find out through their actions? What grips their attention - and why? By understanding these factors, we can really make sense of what the child’s strengths are and learn how we can make the communication skills we’re trying to encourage, matter to the child and be motivating for them.
We can help them learn communication skills that are more readily understood - rather that behaviours that can frustrate, confuse and sometimes distress the child as well as those working and living with the child.
Parental Support
Parents of children with SENs, often end up becoming very expert at navigating the various support systems set up to help children and young people with SENs have their needs met.
Having navigated the world of SEN support for her own children as well as supporting many families with the processes and providing relevant evidence, Gemma is well placed to help parents to understand these processes, as part of the package of support offered.
